Charity is a virtue of mankind, but we’ve lost that art in these tough times. However, Select CITYWALK’s Donate A Toy campaign is bringing the change. And we’ll tell you why you should donate regularly.
When contemplating poverty, we are filled with deep sorrow and sadness. However, we put no effort to eradicate or at least reduce the problem. We do not have to be multi-millionaires to make a difference. As every drop counts to form an ocean, even small donations can help make someone’s life better. We have great power in our hands when pooled together. And that’s why Select CITYWALK has come back with its Donate a Toy campaign. The mall does CSR activities for the downtrodden on a regular basis and the Donate a Toy drive is no different as it is all about giving a smile to the underprivileged kids with toys.
Did you know that France has banned supermarkets from throwing away unsold food and instead directed them to donate it to charity? There are multiple ways you too can associate with charity, be it on an individual basis or with an NGO. From helping animals in need, or supporting people living in poverty to addressing local problems, or even global issues, such as environment, there are various causes. No matter what cause you care about, here are five reasons why you should donate more often.

- Giving Back And Spreading Love
Many people, who are successful today, have had underprivileged backgrounds. As Edith Piaf famously said, “When you’ve reached the top, send the elevator back down for others.” Give back to the community by helping others to get to a good place like you. Moreover, the act of donating to charity will keep you humble in your success. Charity is an admirable means to give people hope. It proves to the people that love and humanity still exist.
- Charity Causes A Domino Effect
No good goes to waste. By your act of giving, your near and dear ones can be inspired to follow your footsteps and donate. Further, each of your loves one’s charitable actions can inspire numerous others to participate in this act of giving. As they say the more the better, yours and your loved ones act of kindness together can help someone else’s family have a better tomorrow. Following in this domino effect the world can be a better place for everyone to love and cherish, where everyone lives in harmony with one another.
EDITH PIAF FAMOUSLY SAID, “WHEN YOU’VE REACHED THE TOP, SEND THE ELEVATOR BACK DOWN FOR OTHERS.”
- Give Time, Gain Experiences
There are multiple ways to give back to the community. If you are not in the position to contribute financially, you can always donate your time. Volunteering your time is a great way for you to enhance your skill set, meet new and like-minded people and gain lifetime experiences. Moreover, giving your time to the underprivileged also opens them to a new world of empathy and love. You may get involved in any cause of your liking. For example, you can volunteer at a homeless or animal shelter, work with NGOs or attend fundraisers for charities among many other ways. Such acts can also provide a real boost to the causes, with actual human intervention than just monetary support.
- Charity Spreads Positivity
Donating is a win-win situation. We all know and agree with the fact that helping others makes us feel good and also improves our emotional well-being (Read The Science Behind Charity to know more about it). Furthermore, donating to charity helps them in continuing their pre-eminent work. A wise man once said, “When the world is selfless, it’s like heaven on earth.”

- Teaching the little ones the importance of giving
Raising your kid to be empathetic to others and to be selfless and share is an important part of parenting. Children are extremely impressionable, they follow in the footsteps of their role models. When kids watch you donate and help others, they will grow up knowing that giving back is the right thing to do. Even if you donate in discretion, letting your kids know about your noble act is important. These values that you impart to your kid today will not only make them a better human being but also help make someone else’s life better.
